Fueled by their passion towards Arabic and Western classical music, Lamees Audeh and Wafa Al Zaghal have been building bridges between these two rich worlds; inviting and engaging Canadian Arab and non-Arab musicians who enjoy performing and exposing this beautiful music to the Canadian public in a new modern style.
Lamees Audeh is a Canadian-Palestinian-Jordanian pianist who has performed in: Palestine, Jordan, England, Scotland and Tunisia. Trained in Classical music, she received her Master’s in Music Performance from England, then moved to Palestine to work at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music where she became drawn to Arabic Music. Together, with Wafa Al Zaghal, (Qanun player), she started exploring possibilities of creating fusion music where East meets West. From this journey, a beautiful style of music was born which brings forth the beauty of both these worlds. She has composed and arranged a few of the pieces that the group performs.
Wafa Al Zaghal developed a strong background in Arabic music since he was quite young. Influenced by his father who was very fond of Arabic Classical Music, Wafa started his first Qanun lessons at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music.
He later became a music instructor there, training and leading many Arabic Music Ensembles in Palestine.
He has performed with many famous Arab musicians such as: Marwan Abado, Anouar Ibrahim, Simon Shaheen, Ahmad Al Khatib, Sharbel Rohana and Nizar Rohana.
